- Central Depository АD (CDAD) was set up as a joint stock company in 13 August 1997 – under art. 91 of the Law on securities, stock exchange and investment brokers. Shareholders of CDAD are leading Bulgarian commercial banks that play a key role on the securities market. The rest of the key shareholders are the Bulgarian National Bank and the Finance Ministry who jointly have a block quota in the capital of CDAD.
- The Bulgarian National Bank and the Finance Ministry exert a direct control over CDAD as provided for in Ordinance No 19.
- On operating level, CDAD is managed by a Board of Directors consisting of 7 members. The Bulgarian National Bank and the Finance Ministry always have their representatives on the Board. The Board appoints one of its members as COF who manages the daily activities of CDAD and reports before the Board at least once per month.
